In un'epoca senza maestri, un grande tributo a Philip Glass da Woody Allen, Scorsese e tanti altri

Credo sia un'epoca così sbandata perché viviamo in un'era - come dice Zagrebelsky - senza maestri.

I maestri buoni sono spariti (morti, uccisi, ripudiati) e così anche quelli cattivi.

Perché nell'epoca imperante del selfness (che a quanto pare, tra l'altro, sta portando il pianeta all'autodistruzione) ciascuno - secondo la profezia di Nietzsche, ma in modo ahimé assai più radicalmente basso - vuole essere ed è maestro di se stesso.

Così, i pochi maestri che restano vivi e in giro, per chi ancora li apprezza e sa quanto siano essi fari nella notte ormai divorante, sono quanto mai importanti. Ed importante conoscerli, ascoltarli.

Una occasione è data dal magnifico documentario (purtroppo in-tradotto e in-distribuito ancora in Italia, dove Amazon preferisce fare documentari su gianluca vacchi e su wanna marchi) dedicato al maestro, "Glass: A Portrait of Philip in Twelve Parts", diretto da Scott Hicks nel 2007 e nominato agli Emmy Awards e all'AFI Award

Chi ha l'occasione di vederlo, oltre che conoscere la vita, la personalità e la spiritualità di Glass, forse il più celebre compositore vivente, cioè contemporaneo, ha la possibilità di ascoltare l'opinione (su Glass, e sulla sua opera) di Joanne Akalaitis, Woody Allen, Holly Critchlow, Errol Morris, Nico Muhly, Godfrey Reggio, Dennis Russell Davies, Martin Scorsese e Ravi Shankar.

Un meraviglioso viaggio nella musica e nell'intelligenza. Glass, una delle ultime "grandi anime".

The wonderful voice of Danilo Ottaviani for a Message to Humans (not to be missed)

 

This video - just four minutes long - is truly an extraordinary work of art, which not through images and sound, sends a message to the entire human race, the text is written by Kristin Flyntz.  

The images follow one another in frenetic way - as in the famous Koyaanisqatsi, a film by Godfrey Reggio with the music score by Philip Glass (1983), hypnotic, distressing and definitive.  

This heartfelt letter is very well acted by Ottaviani's voice without emphasis, without sleight of hand, simply enhancing  and delivering its ultimate message.  

His warm, welcoming, empathic voice guides us through the nightmare experienced in the last two years on a planetary scale, as if the Covid-19 virus itself were speaking to each one of us to make us realize how our uncontrolled selfishness has put our lives and the life of the entire planet at risk. 

The creation of a video message of this type is so important: the images coordinated with the words and the actor's voice seem to come, in an ancestral way, from our collective subconscious.  

Controlled and honest, Ottaviani does not seek to amaze but rather to give voice to the truth that every human being has been able to verify in the last two years, with the upheaval of our lives, suddenly laid bare.  

Kudos to Danilo Ottaviani, for his professionalism. An example of how art can - and above all must - be placed at the service of a new humanism. A collective rebirth that is not only desirable, but indispensable.
